Police searching for man who torched Carrollton store

CARROLLTON, Ga. -

A Carroll County business owner is picking up the pieces after flames damaged his store.

The Carrollton Police Department released surveillance video of a dark blue SUV that drove up to a the C & J Variety Shop on Columbia Drive during the early morning hours this past week and set fire to the business. The arsonist then drove away from the scene.

According to police, the fire got so hot that it blew out the windows to the store.

Owner Carnell Johnson says the whole ordeal has left him with a lot of questions.

"I have no idea why they set it on fire. like I said I don't have any disputes with anyone so I don't know why it happened," said Johnson.

Investigators say about $7,000 worth of damaged was done to the store and the T.C. Rose Bar & Grill, which is attached to the store.

Anyone with information about the owner of the SUV is asked to call Investigator Davenport at 770-834-4451. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arsonist's arrest and conviction.
