FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. -

A 25-year-old Butts Co. man has been arrested and charged with felony murder the death of a 3-year-old Forsyth County boy.

In a statement posted by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Friday:

According to Forsyth County Sheriff Duane K. Piper, Christopher E. Truett, 25, of Butts County, was charged Friday by Forsyth authorities with felony murder, malice murder and aggravated battery in the death of Wyatt Pruitt, 3, of Cumming. These charges were upgraded from Wednesday's charges of cruelty to children and reckless conduct.

The preliminary autopsy report from the Ga. Bureau of Investigation (G.B.I.) states that the child died as a result of blunt force trauma, Sheriff Piper said.

On Tuesday, Forsyth County authorities questioned the Truett, who was the child's mothers boyfriend, for several hours after the child was transported the hospital.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff, the child was pronounced dead at Northside-Forsyth Hospital around 11:45 a.m., about thirty minutes after the child was discovered on the 3600 block of Roseman Landing in the Bridgetowne subdivision.

Prior to being detained, Truett fled the home while police were investigating. He was located in a wood line near the house which is off Browns Bridge Road at GA 400 and arrested without incident.

Truett is currently being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center.
