Parents camping out for Arlington ISD transfer spots

Posted: Updated:

Arlington ISD parents camped out in the parking lot of the district's administration building hoping to get a school transfer for their child.

Parents were allowed to start camping out on Monday night for the transfer sign ups that happened Saturday morning.

The parents entered the building beginning 8:00 a.m. Saturday and left knowing if their kids are able to transfer, according to AISD PIO Leslie Johnston.

Some parents could be seen sleeping in their cars overnight throughout the week to hold their spot in line.

Arlington ISD offers a limited number of in-district transfers for current students, so the spots are prized by parents who want their child to attend a different school.

Parents had to pay a $50 fee to camp out at the administration building.

Children who don't make the transfer list are put on a waiting list in case additional spots open.

For information about transfers, call 682-867-7217.
