NY school district testing Common Core app

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Common Core has been much debated, but the new standards are coming to our schools. With those new standards comes new technology to help kids meet them.

An app developed by the Pearson Education Company is helping third graders learning math and English. The iPad app incorporates the Common Core curriculum.

The Ardsley School District in Westchester County is one of five districts in the country experimenting with the app as part of a year-long pilot program. Dr. Lauren Allan, the superintendent, says the app helps keep the kids engaged.

Blake Rappaport says the app makes it easier to learn because it's fun.

At the end of the pilot program the district will evaluate how effective the app is. But all they need to do is ask Aidan. He says he's smarter from using it.
