Thousands of sorority member badges stolen in Arlington

Posted: Updated:

An international sorority based in North Texas says thousands of its member badges were stolen from the group's headquarters.

The badges are worth an estimated $1.5 million, and there are concerns the gold badges could be melted down for cash.

Police say on Thursday, the Tri Delta executive office in Arlington notified police that some 5,000 badges were stolen.

Investigators say there were no signs of forced entry into the building, which is very secure.

The doors are locked even during business hours, and visitors have to be buzzed in to get inside.

Police say they're following up on leads from the crime scene.
