CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are warning about robberies that have occurred this month in the South Side Kenwood neighborhood.

In the incidents, robbers approached people on the street or employees exiting a business, according to a community alert from Wentworth District police. They then showed weapons and demanded property or that victims give them entry to closed businesses, where they subsequently took property.

The first incident occurred about 11:50 p.m. on Feb. 6 in the 5000 block of South Cornell Avenue. The second occurred about 10:15 p.m. on Feb. 23 on the 5000 block of South Lake Park Avenue.

The two suspects are generally described as black men between 20 and 30 years old who are between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-9 and weigh between 150 and 170 pounds.

Anyone with information should call Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8382.
