The most anticipated game on the Hilltop in decades is also one of the most expensive college sports tickets in recent memory.
No. 18 SMU hosts No. 11 Louisville on Wednesday and the game has been sold out for weeks, forcing ticket buyers to the secondary market. Wednesday night's game is the seventh sellout this season at SMU, a new record for the program.
Ticket website SeatGeek said the average resale price is $184, making it the hottest ticket for a regular season college basketball game in Texas since they began monitoring prices in 2009.
The cheapest seats to get in are baseline tickets, which start at $121. Sideline seats start at $305 and midcourt tickets at $387. Loge and/or club level seat pricing starts at $756.
SeatGeek said ticket prices on the resale market have more than doubled since SMU defeated then-No. 7 Cincinnati at Moody Coliseum on Feb. 8.
SMU has two games left in the regular season – Wednesday vs No. 11 Louisville and Saturday at No. 20 Memphis. SMU has a first round bye in the American Athletic Conference tournament, which begins next week in Memphis.
Then, it's on to March Madness for the Mustangs. SMU is considered a lock to make its first NCAA tournament appearance since 1993.
