Dallas Mavericks buy naming rights for St. Patrick's Day parade

Posted: Updated:

The Dallas Mavericks have purchased the naming rights for this year's St. Patrick's Day parade on Greenville Avenue.

Parade organizers made the announcement at Dallas City Hall on Wednesday.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has been a financial supporter of the parade in the past, helping save the parade in 2012 by paying for security and clean-up costs organizers couldn't cover.

Crowds of up to 100,000 attend the annual event, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. The annual procession features dozens of homemade floats, marching bands, musical groups and all kinds of off-the-wall entries.

The 2014 edition of the parade is scheduled for Saturday, March 15 on Greenville Ave.
