DETROIT (WJBK) -

Demolition crews have already begun ripping down the charred remains of the Jason Manor Apartment complex in Detroit. An early-morning fire gutted the building, leaving dozens of tenants homeless.

The Red Cross estimates about 50 families are now displaced and that most of them have lost everything.

The city of Detroit donated a bus to transport the families to their temporary shelters, which are being provided by the Red Cross. Mike Duggan was in Lansing the day of the fire but he sent his team to Brightmoor to see what help the city can provide.

Many have reached out to FOX 2 hoping to provide help to the victims. You can help in a number of ways.

Donations can be dropped off at the Brightmoor Campus of Redford Aldersgate United Methodist Church, located at 12065 W. Outer Dr. Detroit, MI 48223.
