A young North Texas woman says she is being stalked by someone through her cell phone.
She says no matter what she does, she can't shake the person sending the threatening messages.
Because she's been threatened, FOX 4 is not identifying her.
Wringing her hands in desperation, the 19-year-old victim told FOX 4 that someone has been stalking her on her cell phone for a year and a half -- to the point that she lives in fear.
She says she gets hundreds of text messages a day. Sometimes, they'll start out by expressing affection, but in the very next sentence, they'll threaten her life.
"He tells me he's gonna rape me; that he's gonna kill me," said the victim.
The texts stopped for six months after she smashed her old phone, but after changing phones and her number three or four times, the threatening texts started again a month ago.
Forney police say they are investigating the case as cyber stalking.
The woman says she sometime thinks the stalker can see and hear her through her phone, but cyber security experts say that is not technically possible.
Police suspect someone may be using a phone app that allows someone to send texts with a bogus phone number.
The woman says the ordeal has caused her to have nightmares, and she wakes up screaming and crying.
