Grand Prairie child sex offender sentenced to 60 years

Posted: Updated:

A Grand Prairie man was sentenced Wednesday to 60 years in prison without parole for repeatedly sexually abusing a young relative, according to officials with the Tarrant County District Attorney's office.

Timothy Earl Wesley, 49, was convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, which carries no possibility for parole. Jurors deliberated for 10 minutes Wednesday before he was convicted.

Wesley chose to have a state district judge sentence him.

Prosecutors say Wesley gave his 12-year-old victim a cell phone. He would reportedly call the girl, meet her outside of her home, drive her to a wooded area and have sex with her in his car.

The victim's mother contacted police after finding text messages and nude photos from Wesley on the phone.
