Southlake firefighter proposes to girlfriend at ceremony

Posted: Updated:

Several Southlake police officers and firefighters received promotions and were honored for their duty on Thursday, and one of them set up a surprise proposal to his girlfriend.

First responders received awards for helping people in serious medical distress.

Several officers had their wives or girlfriends pin their badges, which is when one took the celebratory occasion to pop the big question.

Natalie Degraffenreid said she was shocked when her boyfriend of almost two years, Cory Teague, got down on one knee right after she'd pinned his badge on him.

"It was a wonderful surprise," she said. "I had no idea."
