Desoto police recently warned people about a high-accident area where people have been seriously injured and even killed.
It's in Desoto, on the service road along I-35 at Pleasant Run.
Officer Kirk Jordan says speed and driver distraction can be a deadly combination.
"If they hit someone going 82 miles per hour pulling out of the Kroger parking lot, or Burger King of McDonald's or Chevron, they are pretty much dead," he said. "That would be a fatality accident that I would have to work."
Jordan says he just wants drivers not to go so fast.
"We just want people to slow down out here," he said. "We have so many moving factors out here. You have so many parking lots, so many entrances, people stopping people going."
"They said you were going 62," said FOX 4's James Rose to one driver pulled over. "Did you know you were going that fast?"
"No, I was on my cell phone," said the driver.
"I didn't realize I was going as fast as I was, so, I guess it's a good thing," said another driver.
For some drivers, it may be difficult to understand that the road is in fact a service road and not an interstate, but for Jordan, it serves as a simple reminder of why he does what he does.
