WestJet expands service with daily non-stop flight to Phoenix

Calgary, Canada based airline WestJet has announced a daily nonstop flight between Toronto's Pearson International Airport and Sky Harbor International Airport.

The airline will begin the flights starting in October. "Phoenix is dedicated to improving its international service," said Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton. "With WestJet Airline's new flight, we have a greater ability to grow both business and tourism with our friends in Toronto and all of Ontario."

WestJet currently serves eight Canadian cities from Phoenix, the Toronto flight will bring that to a total of nine flights daily.

"We are always looking for new and better ways to provide Canadians with in-demand destination choices," said Chris Avery, WestJet's Vice-President, Network Planning, Alliances and Corporate Development.

WestJet plans to use a Boeing 737-700 aircraft which seats 136 passengers.

Flights will depart Phoenix at 1:20 p.m. and arrive in Toronto at 7:27 p.m.  Returning flights depart Toronto at 9:45 a.m. and arrive in Phoenix at 12:35 in the afternoon.
