Christie at CPAC

Posted: Updated:
(National Harbor, MD/My9NJ) - I attended CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C. There, I met up with Jeanette Hoffman, a Republican strategist.

Hoffman explained, “We like to think of it as, you know, the Oscar party for conservatives for 3 days.”

Hoffman took me on a tour of the conference and attended Governor Chris Christie's speech. His speech focused on many issues important to the conservative wing of the Republican party, including his pro-life stance. He also took time to promote the success of other Republican governors across the country, a nod to his work as the RGA chair.

The speech was well received and the crowd gave him a standing ovation.

Hoffman said of the speech, “I think it was a great speech, you know, classic Governor Christie. He really got the crowd excited. And one of the most important points he made in that speech to the CPAC audience was, we need to start talking about what defines us, not what we’re against.”

The Carousel at Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, New Jersey is a staple of the Jersey Shore, fully equipped with handcrafted animals and a Wurlitzer organ. Many people feel the carousel is a spinning work of art full of history. The carousel has survived the Seaside fire and Superstorm Sandy. Some residents think the carousel should be preserved, but others want to sell it.
