Israel supporters say they were shut out of conference at NYU

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Last weekend, a conference was held at New York University called Circuits of Influence: U.S., Israel and Palestine. It was sponsored by the American Studies Association of NYU. The ASA has sparked outrage for support of an anti-Israel boycott movement.

Herb London, vice president of the American Jewish Conference, says the ASA's event shut out Israeli supporters.

But Professor Lisa Duggan, president of the American Studies Association, wrote the New York Post in an email that the conference was not secret, but held in a small space.

Fliers about the conference were posted on campus and online, but they were apparently taken down as quickly as they were put up, raising questions about whether the conference was ever open to the public, and more so, Israeli supporters.

While NYU has objected to the anti-Israel boycott, NYU President John Sexton released a long statement defending the conference as a forum to discuss all opinions.

Still, many remain dubious.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
