A Wylie teenager is back home safe after vanishing of an out of state school trip.
Stephen Colbert and his family arrived back in Dallas Sunday afternoon. But, there are still a lot of unanswered questions about what happened to him when he disappeared in Indianapolis.
"We've been talking to him and trying to get answers," says Stephen's father Erick Colbert. "We've been drawing a fine line between trying to get answers and letting him rest."
Indianapolis Police also tried to get answers, interviewing Stephen for two hours, but without a lot of luck.
Stephen told police he was at an event Thursday night when he went to grab a cell phone inside of a building. When he returned, he said the buses were gone and he started to walk.
Investigators say his story is blurry after that and that's causing frustration for those wanting to find out what happened to the teen.
Stephen's parents think his lack of memory was caused by being separated from his group, his allergy medication and weather conditions that created a sense of anxiety for Stephen.
Right now, the Colberts say they will worry about the details some other time. They're just grateful to have Stephen home safe.
Police say Stephen's cell phone is still missing but that he did have a cell phone on him that only makes outgoing calls, who that phone belongs to is not clear. The investigation is still open.
