Residents in one Rockwall neighborhood say it's just a matter of time before a leaning utility pole in a nearby alley snaps the meters off their walls.
Some say the tension from wires has already caused damage to their homes. Bugged and frustrated, they contacted FOX 4's Saul Garza for help.
"It could cause a short, which could cause a fire on the house, too," said Rockwall homeowner Jose Luis Aguillon.
Aguillon's meter base is supposed to be straight. Instead, it's being pushed into a brick wall due to too much tension from the wires coming from the leaning utility pole.
Aguillon's home is not the only one -- next door, it's the same thing.
His neighbors behind him are having the opposite problem -- too much slack. There, wires are so low, residents had to tie them up.
Aguillon says he can't hire an electrician to fix the meter base until the utility pole is straightened out.
"Even if I fix the problem, I think it's gonna continue doing the same thing," he said.
Aguillon says he called Oncor. Crews came out right away, but he says instead of correcting the problem, they just gave him more slack on the ground wire.
"They told me, ‘Just call me one of these days when you're ready to work on the meter base and we come to disconnect and connect it back again,'" he said.
When FOX 4 began to investigate, Oncor said the pole, along with others on the same block, will be replaced, and they were already on the list.
Now they'll expedite it, and work should be completed in a couple of weeks. FOX 4 will keep you posted.
