Dallas police confirmed a body found Friday is the one of a woman who went missing one week ago.
D'Lisa Kelley, 24, went missing last Friday a few miles from the scene where the body was found. Kelley was last seen a week ago leaving her grandmother's house to walk to a wake for her best friend. She has a 2-year-old son and was 8-weeks pregnant.
Jasmine Steward believes she listened to her sister's last moments during a phone call she received. "I guess he was on top of her or whatever and she just kept telling him to stop and to get off of her. He was telling her to shut up, stop screaming," Steward said.
"There was obviously a struggle," said Kelley's cousin Quincy Smith. "You could hear her screaming in the background," he said. Kelley's family tried to call back but did not get an answer.
Dallas police said they received a call about 10 a.m. on Friday about the body of a dead woman found in the 1200 block of Presidio Avenue in East Oak Cliff.
Police said the body was of a black woman and was taken to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office to confirm an ID and determine a cause of death. Police said Friday evening it was Kelley's body.
Police have not said when or how she died. The family says they have been told Kelley was not shot or stabbed.
Police said they are investigating the case as a homicide.
Kelley lived with her fiance and father of her unborn child. Attempts to speak with him have been unsuccessful.
