The Arizona Humane Society says a 10-year-old Labrador mix is recovering at their Second Chance Animal Hospital after crews pulled him out of a canal near 43rd Avenue and Osborn.

AHS' Bretta Nelson says the emergency animal medical technicians received a call from a Good Samaritan who saw the dog in the canal.

"EAMT, Andy Gallo, immediately called out to the dog who let out a yowl and swam over. Weak and tired, the old guy who only has one eye, was shivering from the ordeal. He is now being cared for by AHS' veterinarians as they work to get his body temperature back up," stated Nelson.

The dog isn't micro chipped and didn't have a collar or identification.  Nelson says AHS hopes the owner will come forward during the dog's 72-hour stray period.
