Shots fired at bank robbery suspect in Southfield

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Southfield police catch a bank robbery suspect but it wasn't easy. That suspect put up quite a fight and tried to run officers down. They were not hurt but the suspect was injured.

Here's the official press release from Southfield PD:

On 03-15-2014 at 4:55am, Southfield Police Officers responded to an alarm at Comerica Bank on Telegraph Rd. The alarm company observed a male in the bank taking cash. The suspect then left the bank fleeing in an unknown direction. Southfield Police Officers located the suspect at Berg and Oliver in a parked vehicle. As officers approached the vehicle on foot the suspect drove at the officers in an attempt to run the officers down. Southfield Police Officers fired their weapons at the suspect who fled in his vehicle and crashed at Lahser and Eight Mile Roads. The suspect then fled on foot and was apprehended a short time later. The suspect sustained a non-life threatening wound and was treated at a local hospital and released into the custody of the Southfield Police Department. The suspect is possibly involved in numerous breakins at local banks.
