Surviving husband injured in SXSW crash upgraded

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- The condition of a 29-year-old man whose wife was killed when a suspected drunken driver crashed into a crowd of people at Austin's South by Southwest has improved.
Evan West, among seven people remaining hospitalized, was upgraded Sunday to fair condition at University Medical Center Brackenridge after being downgraded Friday to serious. A Seton Healthcare Family spokeswoman said Sunday his vital signs returned to normal limits and stabilized.
Two people were killed and almost two dozen were injured in Thursday's incident.
The Austin American-Statesman ( ) reports that also at Brackenridge are two people in critical condition, one in serious and two in good.
A St. David's Medical Center spokeswoman said 18-year-old Mason Endres, the last remaining crash victim there, was in fair condition Sunday.
