West New York Mayor Dodging More Rumors

Posted: Updated:
West New York, New Jersey (My9NJ) - The last commissioners meeting in West New York ended in chaos, with a resident cursing at the mayor and the mayor walking out. At last night’s commissioner’s meeting the mayor made it clear that anyone who was disrespectful was getting escorted out by police.

However, that didn’t stop some folks from exercising their freedom of speech in a different way. A group of people attended the meeting wearing shirts that said “Roque is a POS”.

West New York resident Francisco Ferriero explains the reasoning behind the shirts.

“Those are the words that the people of West New York really feel about this gentleman that is our mayor,” he said.

Rumors have been swirling regarding Mayor Roque and his administration for a while. The latest involves an alleged FBI raid of town hall two-weeks ago where target letters were reportedly served to Commissioner Ruben Vargas and Deputy Mayor Silvio Acosta. This information was obtained by 35 year police vet Chuck Betancourt and Commissioner Count Wiley. However, town attorney Donald Scarinci responded by simply saying, “Rumors will abound”.

The crowd didn’t seem satisfied with that answer however.

“Last time Dr. Roque said the FBI wasn’t here either and two-three weeks later he was slapped with cuffs so we don’t believe anything this man says. He’s proven to be the greatest liar in this town and the most disrespectful person in this town to all its residents,”

The mayor’s spokesman Pablo Fonseca insists he hasn’t seen any proof that the FBI raided town hall.

“I can’t speak for other people, I’m just telling you I have no information of that actually happening,” he said.
