Umpire saved by high school player after collapse

Posted: Updated:
NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. -

It is safe to say that saving someone's life on the ball field is the ultimate act of both sportsmanship and heroism.

A high school player did just that in Newton County this week. He jumped into action after an umpire collapsed.

Alex Norwood performed CPR on the umpire until an off-duty EMT at the game was able to take over. Norwood was recently certified to perform CPR.
