CAVE CREEK, Ariz. -

There was a huge sign of support Sunday for fallen Phoenix Police Detective John Hobbs.

Hundreds of motorcycle riders took to the streets on a ride north to Cave Creek to raise money for the fallen officer and the One-Hundred Club.

The roar of engines was deafening as hundreds of bikes hit the open road.

"I think it was an awesome, awesome ride," said Manny Lopez.

More than 700 riders left the Sandbar near Tatum and the 101 and rode to the Hideaway in Cave Creek, and it was all for a good cause. A memorial ride for fallen Phoenix Police Detective John Hobbs and a fundraiser for the One-Hundred Club which raises money for fallen first responders.

"It was exciting, and it was well worth it. It's the only way we can pay our respects to the officers," said Cory Donaldson.

"These people are looking to help out people in need and, they enjoy doing it," said Sandbar owner Mark Bradshaw.

"A lot of people think that bikers are bad people, but it's actually opposite of that, bikers are pretty good guys," said Lopez.

Every year the One-Hundred Club organizes a fundraising ride but after the tragic death of Detective Hobbs they decided to move the event up. They never imagined they would get the turn out they did.

"Exhilarating and I've never used that word, you get goose bumps, you just feel proud," said Donaldson.

"It just shows that bikers can really rally and raise some money for people in need," said Bradshaw.

The riders say this was their way of giving back to the officer who gave his life protecting the community, but also to anyone; firefighter or police officer who do the same day in and day out.
