Is Christie’s Slim Down Setting The Presidential Stage?

Posted: Updated:
Trenton, New Jersey (My9NJ) - Lately, Governor Christie has been looking slimmer during his town hall meetings and some reports say he lost about 100-pounds from the lap band surgery he underwent a year ago.

Dr. Charles Simone formerly worked with President Reagan and he took the time to discuss Christie’s weight loss and health.

“It’s very gratifying to see that he lost so much weight and given all the priorities he’s gone through recently and emotionally,” he said.

New Jersey Now Host Jim McQueeny also chimed in on the governor’s latest appearance and what it means for his career.

“He’s not fat, we’re gonna say generously it’s gravitas. But the gravitas is a real key. He is a politician who actually defies categorizing. He’s actually having a run on two tracks here right? And he’s happy to have that; it’s almost like a bilingual politician. For local he’s a moderate, for the presidential aspirations he has to be conservative. It depends on where this gravitas is standing,” he described.

McQueeny went on to explain that some may see this as Governor Christie playing two sides, but in reality, it’s really all part of his political strategy.

“Slow down the game as best you can before you go on the offense and go on the attack stronger. This is what these town meetings are doing; they’re slowing down the offense here, meaning the attackers have to succumb to these town meetings. There’s like a little twitter here, a little twitter there at these town meetings and all the headlines drive to it and they don’t say that much about the bigger issues, he’s managing defense here on this thing so that when this thing resolves itself one way or the other and he thinks it’s gonna be the other, the good way, when this resolves itself he can them make that transition to the national stage and say it’s in my rearview mirror I’m looking down the hood, I want to be president and here’s the candid New Jersey guy that really tells it as it is,” McQueeny explained.

Sadly, Jeter the pit bull puppy is missing. While dogs go missing all the time, there are two specific things that distinguish this story from others. First, several witnesses say Jeter didn't wonder off and that they saw Jeter get taken. Second, the community has rallied in a huge way to help find the loveable pup.

Empty spaces are popping up all over Atlantic City with the closing of three major casinos: Revel, Trump Plaza, and Showboat. Even with all of this going on, the city is still trying to use eminent domain to take away the home of an Atlantic City local legend, Piano Man Charlie Birnbaum. Birnbaum has tuned pianos for icons like: Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, and John Legend. He's been a resident of Atlantic City in the same home for over 50 years.
