When it comes to baseball, a family divided is not uncommon in Chicago. Loyalty to the White Sox or the Cubs can be unshakeable for some fans – even if you have the same DNA.
Twin brothers David and Matt Melton are a prime example of how baseball loyalties can lie on opposite fields, even in the closest relationships. Matt bleeds Cubbie blue, while Dave lives for black and white.
Needless to say, things can get a little heated in the Melton house. Each can easily tell you why the others' team allegiance is wrong. Just try asking them about what it's like watching the Cross-Town Classic together, and you'll find yourself pouring gas onto a fire.
Good Day Chicago's Jake Hamilton proposed a bet. Whichever team has the worst record by the end of the season must return to FOX 32 News in October and pledge their allegiance to the opposing team.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a bet. They say blood is thicker than water, and that might be true. They say family is forever, and that might be true too.
But they also say that in life, there are two seasons – winter and baseball. Winter is over. It's time to pick sides. Welcome to Chicago.
