Paterson McDonald’s Bans Bathroom Use

Posted: Updated:
Paterson, New Jersey (My9NJ) - Go crazy and eat all you want at the McDonald’s across from City Hall in Paterson, New Jersey, but just don’t ask to use the bathroom afterwards.

“You don’t have permission from McDonald’s. This is a private McDonald’s. OK? So you don’t have permission you have to stop recording. The bathroom is out of service,” one employee explained.

Now, before you hate on McDonald’s for banning patrons from their bathroom, this establishment has their reasons. Crazy drug activity was reported in that bathroom, where people were locking themselves in. So McDonald’s chose to put it “out of service.”

However, Trevor Weigle with Paterson Health and Human Services says that city code requires restaurants with ten or more seats must provide a public restroom even if people abuse it.

“There’s nothing in code that gives exceptions to anyone for those types of reasons. That does seem to be the complaint and I hear them and understand them and I’m not saying it’s not true, but this is the city’s ordnance,” he explained.

Attorney Gregg Paster discussed how this situation is a tough call for the courts.

“There’s a balancing act that the court has to perform here between the rights of the paying customer versus the general public’s opportunity to have access to a restroom. So it’s not an easy call and it’s not something I think you can deal with on an “across-the-board” basis,” he said.

StubHub, which is a website that provides services for buyers and sellers for tickets to sporting events, concerts, and other live entertainment events, has been hacked. StubHub is getting a lot of bad press, but the site is really the victim here. The hackers have hacked accounts from other sites, and then used that information to get into the StubHub accounts.
