New tolls lanes on the DFW Connector can be used for free for a limited amount of time beginning Tuesday morning.
The four TEXPress lanes are on a four-mile stretch of Highway 114 in Grapevine between International Parkway and State Highway 26.
They will be free for at least a couple of weeks because the Texas Department of Transportation is still testing the electronic toll collection equipment.
Opening the lanes will also ease traffic for two major events this weekend – the Final Four and NASCAR at the Texas Motor Speedway.
Once tolls do go into effect, they will vary depending on the time of the day and the size of the vehicle. Peak-time costs for the average vehicle will be about $1 in both directions.
