PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

It's been nearly six weeks since a Colorado woman's dog went missing in Tempe and she says she won't be going home until she finds her pup.

That means she's staying in the valley, doing all she can to find her missing pooch.

Amariah Skye is so distraught that her pet of six years in gone.  She is just not ready to call it quits -- doing everything she can think of to find him.

Skye puts up flyers, checks national web sites and constantly visits local animal shelters, searching for her dog Duder.

"He loved everybody, he loved to meet people, meet other dogs, he gives great hugs, jumps up and puts hands on your sides and gives you like a hug," she said.

The 6-year-old Blue Heeler went missing on February 19 while his owner stayed at the Days Inn on Apache Boulevard in Tempe.

Skye left the door open while she was on the phone outside of the room and he got out of her sight.  At the time, Duder had an injury from a recent Pit Bull attack.

"That one thing that worries me is that somebody thought he wasn't well cared for because of his injury, but we were on our way home to his vet at the time," said Skye.

Skye found a rental in Tempe where she plans to live until she can no longer afford to stay in Arizona with her 1-year-old son.  She's willing to do whatever it takes to get her best friend back.

"He was my baby before I had a real baby."

The police can't get involved because there's no proof that the dog was taken.

UPDATE: On April 2, Duder was found and reunited with his owner, thanks to a FOX 10 viewer!
