Some events at TMS canceled, fans asked to take shelter

Posted: Updated:

Rainy weather is causing some events at Texas Motor Speedway for the Duck Commander 500 Sunday to be canceled.

Around 10:20 a.m., TMS made this post on facebook, citing lightning as the reason; "EMERGENCY ALERT: Please evacuate the frontstretch and infield to permanent structures. DO NOT LEAVE THE FACILITY. Take shelter. We REPEAT: DO NOT LEAVE THE FACILITY."

About 15 minutes later, the alert was removed.

According to the TMS twitter feed, the Tweet Up at 10:00am has been canceled.

That's in addition to the No Limits Garage Party being canceled and the Racing with Faith event with Phil Robertson being canceled.

Coverage of the event is scheduled to begin on Fox 4 at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
