CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is warning residents about an ATM scam where hackers can gain unauthorized access to your bank information and withdraw money from your accounts.

Federal banking regulators report there has been an increase in the number of illegal withdrawals from banks.

Authorities said hackers are creating fake ATM cards and delete of change systems that alert banks to unusual ATM activity, after obtaining bank employee login information through sophisticated scams.

Madigan's office said Illinois residents should watch their bank and credit card accounts daily and report anything they do not recognize as their own activity.
