Training helps residents spot wildfire activity

Posted: Updated:

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in northern Arizona are offering to teach residents how to spot wildfire activity.

The one-hour training known as Woods Watch is scheduled Friday in Flagstaff.

Participants will learn how to properly report incidents that could spark wildfires, such as people sneaking into closed areas and disregarding fire restrictions.

Officials say the ongoing drought and windy conditions could cause fires to spread quickly, endangering lives and property.

About 100 people attended the Woods Watch training in 2012.
