CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

They say time waits for no man, and that might be true. But when it comes to history, it's not worth a thing it it's not remembered.

Illinois is home to great stages of history - and many of those are in trouble.

For the past 19 years, Landmarks Illinois has compiled a list of the top ten most endangered historic places - places that need our help.

Bonnie McDonald, the president of Landmarks Illinois, walked Fox 32 News through many of these legends in limbo, historic landmarks waiting for a savior.

One of them is the Uptown Theater.

Closed since 1981, the Uptown Theater is now spending its fourth year on the endangered list.

Next up, at the intersection of Halsted and Willow, lies a gateway to the history of Sheffield- one that could soon disappear forever.

The are now looms in the shadow of redevelopment - and while many buildings in the area can date back to before 1905, without help, they won't be standing much longer.

Finally, the Central Manufacturing District, located along Ashland Avenue and Pershing Road is widely considered the city's largest planned manufacturing area.

It is usable for a need that already exists.

These are just three on the list of endangered historic places, a list that could go far beyond just ten.

So for now, the clock is ticking. And time waits for no one.
