Berkley hot dog stand recalls memorable 80s car jingle

Posted: Updated:
Finish this sentence: "Here Dawg. Come on Dawg."

If you grew up in southeast Michigan and watched television, chances are you're familiar with Ray Whitfield Ford and Alan Ford's iconic 80s jingle that asked customers to 'go to Telegraph Road... right now.. get a good deal."

Well, the jingle is back. Its owner is also one of the creators behind Atomic Dawg, a gourmet hot dog stand in Berkley that's repurposed the classic tune to fit its own needs.

Menu options include the standard Coney with mustard and onions, to something as adventurous as Szechuan Duck topped with blood orange yogurt sauce and Chine five-star spice.

"We make all of our own sauces," says Gary Burnner, Atomic Dawg's culinary creator. "We make the chili from scratch and it matters. You can taste the difference."

Atomic Dawg is located on 2705 Coolidge Highway. They're open Tuesday - Saturday from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
