Move To Legalize Warning About Speed Traps

Posted: Updated:
Hamilton, New Jersey (MY9NJ) -

There is going to be a time when a driver will pass a speed trap.  That driver may flicker their high-beams as a warning to oncoming traffic but the only problem with that is that it's illegal to do so in New Jersey.

One assemblyman is trying to change that; arguing that signaling with your headlights is a matter of free speech.

Assemblyman Ronald Dancer is introducing legislation that will make is completely legal to signal with your headlights, no matter the reason.

" I will make sure that with this legislation, every motorist in the state of New Jersey can have this as a form of warning communication and it is their right; their freedom of speech to do so," said Dancer.

Many motorists seem to be in favor of the proposed legislation citing its common courtesy amongst drivers to do so. When asked if he would warn motorists about speed traps on the road, Phil from Upper Freehold had this to say.

" If a cop isn't around I will. Let ‘em know, give the guy a break so they don’t get a speeding ticket," said Phil.

Alicia from Hamilton Township also agreed with the proposed legislation.

" It’s common courtesy, more or less. I mean it is a safety precaution. You should use common sense at all times. But at the end of the day, you would expect people to do the same thing, because people have bad days and, why not?" replied Alicia.

StubHub is getting a lot of bad press, but the site is really the victim here. The hackers have hacked accounts from other sites, and then used that information to get into the StubHub accounts.
