Muggy, then slight chance for strong storms

Posted: Updated:

We'll start the day off with sprinkles here and there across the area with a rumble of thunder or two off to the north. Temps start in the 60s and should top out around 80° this afternoon. Clouds? We'll see them all morning into the early afternoon with breaks by midday.

While the breaks of sunshine might seem like a good thing, they could fuel the formation of showers and storms, possibly severe, as we get into the latter portions of the afternoon. Best chances will be after 3 p.m. north of I-20. Biggest threats with these storms will be damaging winds and large hail.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for much of the area from 10 a.m. this morning until 8 p.m. tonight. Winds will be out of the south 18-30 mph with higher gusts possible.

All of the showers and storms should clear by 3 a.m. leaving us with cooler temps in the low 50s and windy conditions Monday morning.
