McKINNEY, Texas -

A former Plano Independent School District teacher could spend the next 12 years in prison for molesting one of his elementary school students.

Jurors convicted 40-year-old Todd Reich on two counts of indecency with a child. On Monday they handed down two 6-year sentences, which must be served consecutively.

Reich was a physical education teacher at Martha Hunt Elementary School in Murphy.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, he touched a 9-year-old's breast and back side during the 2009-2010 school year.

The affidavit said he also made the girl touch his private area and then threatened to kill her parents and dog if she told anyone.

Hunt Elementary is the same school where convicted sex offender Joseph Garbarini molested two kindergarten girls in 2010. He was sentenced to more than 60 years in prison.

Garbarini's victims' parents filed a lawsuit against the school and the school district for failing to prevent the abuse.

Reich will be eligible for parole in six years.
