New Jersey Roller Derby Workout

Posted: Updated:
Morristown, New Jersey (My9NJ) - Calling all adrenaline junkies! New Jersey’s Roller Derby league may be just what you need if you’re looking for a new workout and aren’t afraid of getting knocked down at high speeds.

Derby diva Barbi Gnecco discussed what the league is all about and how intense the game can get out on the rink.

“It basically comes down to a beating because sometimes you have amazing blockers that are just hitting you and hitting you and hitting you. You’ll come across a wall of three blockers with a fourth blocker which is a swinger and they’ll just try to knock you out, that’s usually a big girl that’s very tough,” she said.

The game attracts females of all ages. Barbi’s 9 year-old daughter Mia Gnecco, also participates in full-contact derby action.

“You get a good workout when you do it and just the feeling of roller skating is just so much fun to do,” Mia said.

And Mia’s not kidding about the workout part, especially when it comes to toning your legs and thighs!

So if you’re getting bored with your treadmill and gym membership, then don’t miss out on this high-energy, high-impact game.
