Dallas woman killed in argument over Hoveround

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS - A Dallas woman is dead following what police described as physical fight with her elderly boyfriend over his Hoveround.

Police said 43-year-old Felicia Jones was killed Wednesday morning in the 3200 block of Hamilton Avenue. Her boyfriend, 71-year-old Robert Coleman, admitted to stabbing her.

Coleman told FOX 4 he has a Hoveround because he is disabled. He said his girlfriend was not disabled, but she frequently took the motorized scooter to the store and back.

Coleman said he and Jones got into an argument early Wednesday because she didn't return the Hoveround in a timely manner.

"She came around here and grabbed my walking stick," Coleman said. "That's when she commenced to hitting me on my back and what not, then she shoved me down."

Coleman alleges she beat him and that she came at him with a knife and his own wooden cane. He said he grabbed the knife and stabbed her in self-defense.

Police said Coleman did have injuries on his back that were consistent with being struck with a cane.

He was also the victim in a previous domestic violence case involving Jones. She was charged with injury to the elderly and he was granted an emergency protective order.

"I begged her and begged her you know," Coleman said. "Everybody know that she just do me any kind of way."

A grand jury will decide if he should face any charges for the stabbing.
