A man faces charges following a fatal crash in Plano that happened early Wednesday morning.
Plano police say that they responded to the crash around 1 a.m. at the intersection of Legacy Drive and Hedgecoxe Road.
A Subaru SUV was heading south on Hedgcoxe when it ran a red light and hit a BMW that was headed east on Legacy.
The Subaru caught on fire, but its driver fled the scene on foot.
The driver in the BMW, 25-year-old Juneho Yum of Allen, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Subaru, 30-year-old Ryan Jacob Forbes of Plano, was charged with intoxication manslaughter and accident involving personal injury or death.
Police are continuing to investigate.
Yum’s brother, Min, says Yum had been out with two friends Tuesday night and was going home to Allen Wednesday morning when the crash happened. Yum graduated from Allen High School in 2006, and one glance at his Facebook page shows his love of cars.
He turned that passion into a business six months ago, coating cars with a special rubber wrap to change their looks.
Min says he and Yum were best friends, and were only a year apart in school.
Forbes’ attorney, Todd Shapiro, spoke to Forbes Wednesday afternoon.
“He's not doing well,” said Shapiro. “Anybody in this situation would be in shock like he is.”
Plano police say they took Forbes' blood at the jail, but don't have the results back on his blood alcohol level.
