Cardiologist Owes Popular Strip Club $135,000

Posted: Updated:
Atlantic City, New Jersey (My9NJ) - Doctor Zyad Younan is a prominent cardiologist in both New Jersey and New York, but according to a summons from the New York Supreme Court, Younan owes Scores, the popular gentleman’s club $135,000.

According to this summons, Dr. Younan visited the club four-times, racking up a huge bill on food, beverages, and the company of ladies.

Mark Yackow is the COO of Scores in Atlantic City. He discussed what it takes to rack-up that kind of cash at his club.

“Very simply, he came in, they had some drinks, he knew a number of the girls and he took six or seven girls for like five hours in a room. We have videotape of not him in the room, but we have videotape of him walking around the club and outside the room,” he said.

According to the court filings, Younan has refused to pay the American Express bill first saying because he was not at the club and then stating that he was drugged.

“The story that we got is that he’s never been inside our club, that he met these young ladies outside, that they went back to either his apartment or a hotel room, they drugged him, took his credit cards, took his passport and came to the club, but not once, they did that three times,” Yackow said.

High tabs are not unusual at facilities like this, but Yackow said that the club is careful about vetting customer’s credit cards before they spend an exorbitant amount of money.

“You don’t want to turn around at the end of the night and say here’s a bill for $50,000 or $40,000 and then the guy says ‘ya know what, I was out of it, I didn’t know I was doing this’. Every hour or every half-hour he does a transaction, he is given a new credit card receipt to sign and he’s told where he’s at. What happens is that the guy comes, he has a great time and its buyer’s remorse the next morning,” he explained.

Yackow went on to say that this kind of thing happens a few times a month where patrons have spent over $200,000 at the club in one night.

“We had a guy spend $60,000 and $110,000 twice in the same week. The bulk of it is the entertaining, you got six or seven entertainers in a room getting anywhere from $600 to $1000 an hour over five-six hours, that’s how it adds up,” Yackow recalls.

Both Doctor Younan and his father have not returned calls for comment.

Sadly, Jeter the pit bull puppy is missing. While dogs go missing all the time, there are two specific things that distinguish this story from others. First, several witnesses say Jeter didn't wonder off and that they saw Jeter get taken. Second, the community has rallied in a huge way to help find the loveable pup.

Empty spaces are popping up all over Atlantic City with the closing of three major casinos: Revel, Trump Plaza, and Showboat. Even with all of this going on, the city is still trying to use eminent domain to take away the home of an Atlantic City local legend, Piano Man Charlie Birnbaum. Birnbaum has tuned pianos for icons like: Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, and John Legend. He's been a resident of Atlantic City in the same home for over 50 years.
