‘Armed and dangerous’ man wanted for January robbery

Posted: Updated:

Kane County Sheriff’s deputies are on the hunt for an armed and dangerous west suburban Aurora man accused of an armed robbery that occurred on Jan. 2.

A Class X armed robbery charge was filed late last month against Montrell Brannon, 19, 400 block of Robinhood Drive. A $150,000 warrant has been issued for his arrest, the Aurora Beacon News is reporting.

Detective Nathan Moravec said that deputies were called to Caroline Drive in Aurora on Jan. 2 by a victim who reported he had just been robbed of his cellphone and wallet.

Detectives learned that Brannon had allegedly created a fake Facebook account, which he used to contact the victim and make arrangements to purchase the victim’s cellphone.

The victim was waiting in his car on Caroline Drive when he was approached by a man he identified as Brannon, and robbed at gunpoint, Moravec said.

Deputies said Brannon is a black male, 5-feet-9-inches tall, 130 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

Deputies are seeking information about Brannon’s whereabouts. Moravec said the department received a tip that Brannon had possibly fled the state. Anyone with information should contact Moravec at (630) 444-1143.
