CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Three people were injured in a three-vehicle, hit-and-run crash involving a semi truck on the outbound Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) Sunday afternoon on the West Side.

The three were in a vehicle heading westbound on I-290 near Independence Boulevard about 11:50 a.m. when it was involved in a crash with a white car and semi truck, according to Illinois State Police.

The white car drove away after the crash, police said.

But three people, whose ages and genders were not immediately known, were pinned inside the other vehicle and taken to nearby hospitals, authorities said. Four ambulances responded to the scene.

The driver of the semi was not injured, police said.

Illinois State Police were at the scene investigating the crash, but no other information about lane closures or the crash was immediately available.
