Wise Co. judge, 3 others killed in crash

Posted: Updated:
WISE COUNTY, Texas - State troopers say they found no indication that a Wise County Justice of the Peace was driving under the influence when she caused a deadly accident near Decatur.

Troopers said for some reason Precinct 2 Justice Terri Johnson was driving the wrong direction on Highway 287 Saturday evening.

She was killed when her car slammed into an SUV head-on in the northbound lanes of the highway.

"I was just very heartbroken. There is no other way to describe it because she was just a very special, special person," said Darlene Case, a former teacher.

Three adults in the SUV were killed. They were identified as 31-year-old Juan Rios and 50-year-old Sherry Rios, both of Quahnah.  Amy Culwell, 35 of Chillicothe, was also killed.

The lone survivor in that vehicle was a 4-year-old girl who was not in a child seat and was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to Cook Children's in Fort Worth with serious injuries.

Troopers are investigating the cause of the crash. Blood work will be done on both drivers, but those results could take up to two weeks.
