3 escape burning Oak Cliff home

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS - Fire destroyed a one-story house in east Oak Cliff early Monday morning.

It happened around 1 a.m. in the 2800 block of Overton Road, near Interstate 45.

Three adults who had been playing dominos in the home all escaped without getting hurt.

"We just immediately ran out the house and it just went up in flames," said Demetria Walker. "I don't even have a pair of shoes right now. My ID, everything was in there."

The American Red Cross will help the victims with temporary housing.

Investigators believe the fire was electrical, possibly from a window air conditioning unit.
