6 injured, gunman dead in FedEx workplace shooting

KENNESAW, Ga. - A gunman opened fire on at least six people early Tuesday, at a FedEx Ground facility in Kennesaw, GA.

According to reports, the shooting happened at a FedEx facility at 1675 Airport Road. Officials say the lone suspected gunman has been found dead, likely from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. The gunman is described as a 'package handler', an employee of the facility. According to the Associated Press, a witness stated: the FedEx shooter had assault rifle, knife and bullets strapped across chest 'like Rambo'.

Family members are being directed to a nearby skating facility for information about their loved ones.

Late Tuesday, officials released this report:
"According to investigators and witness information from the scene, early this morning a male drove a maroon Honda up to the security guard shack at the business of FedEx. After shooting the guard, the male entered the warehouse where he shot another five individuals.  After doing so, the male committed suicide inside a trailer which was docked on the backside of the business.


The suspect has been identified as 19 year old Geddy L. Kramer of Acworth, Georgia.

Wounded in the shootings were six other people. A seventh male received an injury to his knee while he was attempting to escape the immediate area where the shootings were taking place.

·         A 28-year-old male is in critical condition at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital after being treated for a gunshot wound.

·         A 52-year-old female is in stable condition at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital after being treated for a gunshot wound.

·         A 42-year-old female has been released from Wellstar Kennestone Hospital after being treated for a gunshot wound.

·         A 19 year old male is in stable condition at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital after being treated for a gunshot wound.

·         A 22 year old male is in stable condition at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital after being treated for a gunshot wound.

·         A 38 year old male has been treated and released from Wellstar Kennestone Hospital after being treated for a gunshot wound.

The Cobb County Police Department would like to thank the following law enforcement agencies for their assistance during this incident."


A spokesperson from FedEx released a statement saying:
    "FedEx is aware of the situation. Our primary concern is the safety and well being of our team members, first responders and others affected. FedEx is cooperating with authorities."

At 9:30am, an additional statement was released:
    "We can confirm that an incident occurred early Tuesday morning at a FedEx Ground facility in Kennesaw, Georgia.   Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected, and with their families and friends.  We are grateful for the assistance of law enforcement.  The situation is now stabilized and we are focused on the needs of our team members and cooperating with the law enforcement investigation of this tragedy."
