Police: Man stabbed by homeless suspect in Deep Ellum

DALLAS - A homeless man attacked a man who was walking along the sidewalk in Deep Ellum early Tuesday morning.

It happened just after midnight in the 2600 block of Elm Street in Dallas.

Police said 52-year-old Kenneth Perkins, who is homeless, stopped two men and asked them for a cigarette.

Perkins got into an argument with the men and then stabbed one of them, police said.

He was chased down and caught by bouncers from a nightclub.

Police arrested him on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim is in serious condition, but is recovering.
