Operation targets buyers of child prostitution

Posted: Updated:

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Eight people have been arrested in the Prescott area as a result of a multi-agency sting operation targeting buyers of services of child prostitutes.

Seven of those arrested last week were booked on suspicion of conspiracy to commit child prostitution while the eighth person was accused of possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

According to The Daily Courier, investigators arrested men who replied to an online notice to make arrangements to meet underage prostitutes and then went to a motel room.

Participating agencies included the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, the state Department of Public Safety, the federal Department of Homeland Security and police departments for Prescott, Prescott Valley, Cottonwood and Tempe.
