Police in Arlington are investigating a reported assault on two teen girls that may be connected to four similar incidents that happened in the area previously.
Police say around 9 p.m. on April 18, two girls, who are 14 and 15, were walking home in the 1900 block of Carter Drive when a man ran up to them from behind, pushed one of the girls down and grabbed the other one.
The girl the suspect grabbed screamed and fought with him, resulting in him running back to his car. The two girls fled to a neighbor’s house and called 911.
The suspect is described as a man his 20s wearing a gray hooded shirt. The car he fled in may have been a newer model dark-color Honda Civic. Surveillance video from a nearby resident captured the vehicle on video.
Police say they believe the incident may be connected to others because of the suspect’s actions and the location where it happened.
In the previous incidents, four girls who range in age from 12 to 16 say they were approached from behind by a man while walking home in the afternoon and at night. The suspect fled on foot in those cases.
Those incidents took place between November 2013 and January 2014, and happened in the 2300 block of Huntington Drive, the 800 block of E. Timberlake Drive, the 2200 block of E. Park Row Drive and in the 1800 block of E. Tucker Boulevard.
Anyone with information on the incident or the suspect is asked to contact police at 817 795-9992 ext. 137, or Crime Stoppers at 817 469-TIPS (8477).
